Bio

In an era of remixes saturating multiple channels—from mainstream music media to clubs and bars—some can only stomach dance music as part of the nightlife experience. For others, it’s living and breathing. Kurt Kirton is one of the latter. A former small town boy from central Mississippi, he cut his teeth on the smooth grooves of the 70s and the synth-infused 80s.

While both decades were musically unique, the early 90s produced a fast-evolving genre in the US that had first taken flight in Europe. It was then that Kirton’s love of dance/club music was born. People in a Box (2000-2010) was his first iteration as a dance act. After stepping back from music for 5 years to work on other projects Bang the Drums, the first full INEVITABLE album, was born.

Like most songwriters, Kirton started on new songs March of 2020 to pass time during the height of the pandemic. “Then there was barely a break between working the Bang the Drums album and writing for Utopia!” he exclaims. After a couple of years writing & producing the debut album for his other band Kurplunk (parodies & funny songs), work began on INEVITABLE’S third release.

INEVITABLE is Kirton at the helm—producing, writing, recording, and singing on the majority of the songs, friend & bandmate Jason Beetz with guest vocalists and programmers rounding out the process.

Kirton has an enduring passion and knack for covering hooky, melodic, lesser known tracks as well as writing his own original material—a formula that’s proven successful. Tomorrow Starts Today proudly marks the band’s third full length release. It includes Beetz’s cover of DC Talk’s hit “Say the Words” as well as the G-Powered remix of this album’s first single, “The Music Plays Forever.” Eight originals and two covers (Steve Taylor & Boy Meets Girl) round out the track list with ambition, encouragement, fun, & relationships as lyrical themes this go-round.

“To have every song be at the level we want as far as quality and production makes putting together a full INEVITABLE album a long involved process. But for some reason, this album came together faster than either of the other two. As usual, we want every song to be as catchy and compelling as possible—no filler or throwaway tracks!” Kirton relays.

Electronic music on pop radio—at least in the US—has changed since the early 2010’s: You won’t hear much EDM fare there today. But regardless of what mainstream pop radio is doing, INEVITABLE is undeterred in their unabashed mission to release catchy energetic painstakingly crafted dance, trance, and electropop.

And, as to be expected from this band, upbeat songs comprise the majority of Tomorrow Starts Today. Dance on, world; 4/4 is king!
